Czech Carved Clocks, Food and Music
Amazing clocks, clocks and more clocks all uniquely designed and finely carved by Frank and Joseph Bily early 20th century Czech farmers living near Spillville, Iowa. The brothers rejected an offer from Henry Ford of one million dollars (circa 1928) for their clock depicting American pioneers. The trip also includes a rare look at the summer 1893 residence of Antonin Dvorak who reportedly put the finishing touches to his New World Symphony here. At. St Wenceslaus church, the oldest surviving Czech Catholic church in America, we’ll hear music on the same organ used by Dvorak. We’ll also take in the Czech Festival in nearby Protivin for a late afternoon concert.
