Job Duties
This position is responsible for administration, management, and support of the UW-L Internet & Intranet systems, Virtual Lab environment, and 3rd-Party Applications used within the UW-L environment and externally hosted solutions. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Network & Enterprise Services. The position performs within the established goals and priorities that are consistent with the Information Technology Services Department goals.  

 

This position is responsible for Internet & Intranet administration, research and development, maintenance and support; virtual Lab Management, deployment and support; backup support for MS SQL server farm. This position will administer and support 3rd-party systems and applications such as ImageNow, Ad Astra, and other hosted solutions.

 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Required: In-depth knowledge of Internet & Intranet systems such as SharePoint, in-depth knowledge of VMWARE and application hosting practices, knowledge and experience with web-based applications including testing and problem solving related to desktop and browser level problems, knowledge or experience in developing technical documentation and end user materials, knowledge or experience in designing and conducting technical training sessions, knowledge of web related server technologies including hardware and software and programming, collaborative working style, knowledge of database systems and supporting software, especially in the areas of complex software integration, excellent organization and problem-solving/troubleshooting skills as well as effective public speaking, presentation, and listening skills. 

 

Preferred: Extensive knowledge or experience in the area of mobile hardware and application management and deployment, possess technical experience and software proficiencies: SharePoint, MS SQL 2012, and ORACLE DB, Bachelor’s Degree in a Technology related field from an Accredited 4 year College or University.

Application Procedure

If you wish to apply for this position you will be required to complete an online exam and upload a resume.

Applying is a 7 step process.

Step 1: Log into your WiscJobs account or create an account. Search for Job announcement 13-02740 and go into the announcement.


Step 2: Preview and print the exam now, prepare your responses to the exam, and then return to apply after your responses have been prepared.

Step 3: Search for and open the job announcement. Click on “Apply Now” at the top or bottom of the screen. Review the information in the “My Job Application”, make any necessary updates and click on “Submit Personal Information.”

Step 4: Complete the information on the Employment Information and Preferences screen. This must be completed to apply for this recruitment. Once complete click the “Update Employment Preferences”.

Step 5: Attach your resume to your application. If you don’t have a resume downloaded to your job cart yet, follow the instructions on the page to do so.

Step 6: At the “Application Detail” screen click on the “View Exam Option” button, and then the “Take Exam” button on the next screen.

Step 7: When you have completed the exam click the “Save and Finalize” button. At the next screen click “Finalize”. After you have finalized your exam, you will be sent an email by the system confirming that your exam has been completed. If you exit the exam and re-enter later to update your answers, you will need to save each page and finalize or your answers may not be recorded. After you have finalized your exam, you will be sent an email by the system confirming that your exam has been completed.

The deadline to apply is Thursday, October 31, 2013. **Applicants who applied for the previous announcement do not have to apply again.**
