Job Duties
This position provides mobile computing and emerging technology development and support, PeopleSoft development and support, UW-L Internet & Intranet development, and Database Administration. Application development will include framework and software application delivery for smart phones (such as iPhones, and Android devices), tablets (such as iPads and Surfaces), laptops, and netbooks. The ideal candidate will be able to facilitate applications integration for UW-L core systems and integration with classroom hardware. 

 

This multi-faceted position will interface with the Information Technology staff; Development, Network and Server Administration, Client Service Help Desk, Academic Technology Service, and, campus staff, faculty, and student groups, to gather customer requirements in order to design, develop and deploy applications, training, and documentation.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of Internet & Intranet systems such as SharePoint; online course management tools and concepts such as Blackboard, WebCT, or Desire2Learn; database systems and supporting software, especially in the areas of complex software integration; web-based applications including testing and problem solving related to desktop and browser level problems; web related server technologies including hardware and software and programming languages such as ASP, ASP.Net, XML, JavaScript, and VBScript; in-depth programming knowledge of the following: C#, Visual Basic, or PowerShell; ability in developing technical documentation, root-cause analysis, and end user materials; designing and conducting technical training sessions; technical experience and software proficiencies: SharePoint, MS SQL, ORACLE DB and PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, and mobile applications development frameworks; organization and problem-solving/troubleshooting skills and effective public speaking, presentation, and listening skills.

Application Procedure

Applying is a 7 step process.

Step 1: Log into your WiscJobs account or create an account. Search for Job announcement 13-00252 and go into the announcement.
Step 2: Preview and print the exam now, prepare your responses to the exam, and then return to apply after your responses have been prepared.
Step 3: Search for and open the job announcement. Click on “Apply Now” at the top or bottom of the screen. Review the information in the “My Job Application”, make any necessary updates and click on “Submit Personal Information.”
Step 4: Complete the information on the Employment Information and Preferences screen. This must be completed to apply for this recruitment. Once complete click the “Update Employment Preferences”.

Step 7: When you have completed the exam click the “Save and Finalize” button. At the next screen click “Finalize”.
