Print from home or the UWL wireless network:
Over the summer break, UW-L implemented a new printing option for students. This new printing program allows students, using their NetID username and password, to print both from home and over the UW-L wireless network.
This service is called "Remote Printing Service" and can be accessed by clicking the "Login" link in the grey, left pane. Once logged in you will find a "Remote Printing Service" link in the same grey, left pane that will take you to the Remote Printing Service web page.
Students can use their web browser to upload and print documents to one of the print release stations located in the ITS labs(as you would if you were printing from a lab or classroom). These print release stations can be found in Cartwright Center, Murphy Library Reference Area, Murphy Lab 153 and Wing 002.
Costs for printing remains the same with the new Remote Printing Service. 6 cents per black and white page, 90 cents per color page.
Changes in ITS Labs and Classrooms, Summer 2010:
Wing 015 has been converted to an ITS classroom and will no longer be used as an ITS lab.
Wing 002 is now the only ITS lab in the Wing Technology Center. There is one entrance into this lab. Doors are located in the south hallway of the Wing Technology Center basement or on the south side of Wing 015.
The Wimberly 202 ITS lab has been split into two rooms. Room number 202 will remain an ITS lab. Room number 203 is now a regular, instructional classroom.
Murphy Library reference area lab has added two Macintosh computers for student use and has also replaced the old PC's with new computers with 20 inch monitors.
There are 18 new scanners available for student use throughout the ITS facilities. These new Canon LiDE scanners can be found in Wimberly 202, Murphy Library 153, Murphy Library reference area lab and Wing 002. There are a total of 28 scanners available for student use around campus in ITS Labs.
Check out our new ITS logo! You can find it on the background of any ITS lab or classroom computer as well as on the log in screens.
Some USB/Flash Drives try to install software when they are used in a computer.
These drives will not work in the ITS Labs, Classrooms, or Podiums. Many cheaper drives do not
install software and work in the Labs, Classrooms, or Podiums.
The SuperTalent flash drive is a simple product, but one that has been tested and works great in our teaching podia and ITS facilities. Most everyone at this time is purchasing either the 4GB @ 11.99 or the more popular 8GB size @ 28.99 + S&H . Either one of these can be purchased on line at this link: Directron.com SuperTalent Flash Drive.
