Pendant – Copper

Pendant – Copper

This copper pendant was recovered from an Oneota (1300-1550 AD) pit feature in 1990.  The pendant measures 6.26 cm long, 1.54 cm wide, and 0.09 cm thick. The piece has a hole drilled at one end and a small portion of preserved cordage in the hole. Although by no means common, these kinds of pendants and similar designs on other kinds of artifacts (rock art and pottery designs) are known from late pre-European sites in the Upper Midwest.  Site located south of Holmen, Wisconsin.
