The Socrates Café is a place where students can have open discussions about important issues. We are primarily part of the philosophy department, but we have strong roots in the psychology, physics, sociology, and political science departments on campus. We have had discussions about free will, miracles, the nature of knowledge and political oppression. We ask no previous knowledge and pride ourselves on being a safe place where anyone can speak about what is really important to him or her.
We meet every other week on Wednesday evenings. On average there are about twenty people from many different areas of study and from outside the traditional university setting. We always are interested in many different people to bring multiple perspectives to our discussions.
Great opportunity for extra credit from Dr. Scherwitz and Dr. Kraemer!
