Bike Theft Prevention and Registration

Bike theft is the #1 reported crime on campus.  By following the suggestions below, you can greatly reduce the chance of
your bike being stolen.  By registering it, you also have a much higher chance of recovering your bike if it is stolen.

Tips for Preventing Bike Theft

  • Always lock your bike with a quality, U-type lock through the frame and wheels, even if you are only going
to be gone for a few minutes.
  • Lock your bike to a rack or other firmly affixed object.
  • Lock your bike when storing it on a porch or in a garage.
  • Record your bike's information to aid law enforcement in the event your bike is stolen.
  • Register your bike with University Police AND the La Crosse Police Department and the National Bike Registry
