The Physical Education Teaching program is part of the College of Science and Health (CSH). CSH provides general advising information for students within the college.

Center on Disability Health & Adapted Physical Activity (CDHAPA)

Many of our graduate students obtain additional practical experiences through their work in the on-campus CDHAPA program serving persons with disabilities.

Climbing wall and ropes course

Our students have access to resources available through our Adventure program including the UWL challenge course and climbing wall along with outdoor pursuit activities such as rock climbing activities and rappelling. We also work closely with the UWL First Flight program to provide new undergraduate students with adventure education, outdoor pursuit experiences, and goal setting strategies for college success.

Pedagogy & Physical Activity Lab

The Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) Pedagogy and Physical Activity Lab resources are available to Exercise and Sport Science faculty and students. Faculty and students may reserve teaching resources and lab equipment by contacting us.

Thesis

All Physical Education Teaching students select either a thesis or non-thesis program track. Thesis students complete courses in research methods and statistics along with a thesis project. 

Graduate students completing a thesis must adhere to the university guidelines and processes for writing, editing, printing, and binding the manuscript. Follow the link to view detailed information.

Physical Education Teacher Assessment Instrumentation (PETAI)

In an effort to provide on going support to our graduates, we offer free links to several versions of this UWL developed systematic observation instrument.

Academic policies

Graduate students must adhere to university policies as well as program specific requirements. Information on various university graduate student policies and forms is available on the Graduate Studies website via the link provided.

Graduate and Extended Learning with support from the Academic Initiatives Differential Allocation Committee, and the Graduate Student Organization work to provide funding opportunities for our graduate students. The grant writing and scholarship competition processes involved also serve as unique professional development opportunities for students.
