Student Affairs Administration
Capstone project
Students will create a Capstone Project as part of the SAA 780 & SAA 790 courses.
General Guidelines for the Capstone Project
The Capstone Project consists of two primary phases:
(1) a comprehensive introduction and literature review that highlights a practical problem in student affairs and higher education, empirical research, and theoretical foundations paper, and
(2) a comprehensive proposal that advances a practical solution to the identified problem. This can take the form of a programmatic intervention, a strategic plan, a curriculum or course, a training program or professional development, a comprehensive assessment, or other initiatives. Students advance this proposal in a specific institutional context.
Students will complete Capstone projects:
- in consultation with a student affairs or academic affairs units on a specific campus,
- that have practical application to a student affairs or higher education setting
While complete projects are substantive papers, students condense their work into poster presentations shared at the SAA Capstone Poster Session each May at UWL.
