Neuroscience
Application process
Each student must first be accepted for admission to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Please review the Requirements tab for the detailed pre-requisites, core, and elective courses prior to submitting an application from the button below. At the end of the online application you will be able to submit the name of your faculty reference, and send them the URL for them to complete an online recommendation form on your behalf. No additional reference letter is required.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and will be reviewed within several weeks of receiving your application and faculty reference. A committee of neuroscience faculty will review applications and notify students and their respective college advising offices to officially add the minor to their program. NEU 200: Introductory Neuroscience is only available in Spring semesters. You can also take this course without being in the minor if you want to learn more about the field. Once accepted, the Neuroscience Interdisciplinary Minor will be added to your Advisement Report (AR) in your WINGS account.
RETENTION
Retention in the UWL Neuroscience Interdisciplinary Minor will be based on the following criteria:
- Cumulative University GPA no lower than 3.00 (4.0 scale)
- Grades of "C" or better in BIO 105, PSY 100, and NEU 200
- Grades of "C" or better in all courses in the minor, including electives, to complete the minor
Failure to meet any one of the retention criteria requires the student to be on probationary status. If the student does not meet all criteria for two consecutive semesters, the student will be removed from the minor and encouraged to declare the Program Option or equivalent in their UWL college.
