Art Faculty Exhibition

Opening Reception: September 5th, 5-6:30 p.m.

UW-La Crosse’s University Gallery is set to present the 2024 Art Faculty Exhibition, with an opening reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5. This biennial group exhibition features prints, drawings, metalwork, photography, ceramics, digital art, paintings and mixed media.

Featured faculty artists are David Dobbs, Joshua Doster, Kathleen Hawkes, Lisa Lenarz, Linda Levinson, Deborah-Eve Lombard, Marc Manke, Bradley Nichols, Jarred Pfeiffer, Allison Schneider, Caitlin Mary Margarett Sørensdatter, Zachary Stensen, Jennifer Williams and Ger Xiong/Ntxawg Xyooj. Works to be displayed encompass diverse mediums, applications and methods showcasing the various disciplines of visual art researched and taught by UWL faculty.

“This exhibition is a great opportunity for the campus and regional communities to see and experience artworks made by our visual art faculty,” says Professor Kate Hawkes, chair of the Art Department. “The works encompass a breadth of aesthetic and conceptual themes and span many artistic disciplines. We do this exhibition every few years, and it is always interesting to share gallery space, see connections and further an artistic dialogue between our varied and unique studio practices.”

Throughout the month, faculty will be offering gallery talks about their works. Talks are from 12-12:45 p.m. and will be held on Sept. 9, 11, 16 and 18. Attendees will hear from the artists themselves as they discuss their work and studio practice.

The Lowe Center for the Arts is currently adjacent to a major construction project for a new parking ramp. Visit uwlax.edu/vpa/parking for more information about parking. Admission to the gallery is free for the public.
