Senior Art Major Fall Exhibition

Opening Reception: November 22, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

The UWL Art Gallery presents the Fall 2024 Senior Art Exhibition titled “Everything as it isn’t.” This biannual group exhibition is the final rite of passage to graduation for senior art majors, and features artwork that covers a diverse scope of mediums, applications, and methods. Opening reception for the exhibition is on November 22 from 5-6:30 p.m.

As part of a pre-professional capstone course each semester, graduating art majors present their works in this exhibition show to learn about exhibiting, promoting, and engaging audiences with their art. The senior exhibition is aimed at fostering an understanding of professional presentation and a deeper understanding of its methodologies.

Professor Joshua Doster, who leads the students in this course, emphasizes that putting together the senior art exhibition is a tremendous amount of work for the students that leads to high reward for the students in their journeys as artists. Visitors to the gallery have an opportunity to see the culmination of the work and study put forth by the students through their time at UWL.

Exhibiting artists are also present in the gallery to discuss their work in two separate sessions. Both are from noon to 12:45 p.m. on Dec 2 and 4 in the gallery.

Please note that the Lowe Center for the Arts is currently adjacent to a major parking ramp construction project. For more information on parking, visit uwlax.edu/vpa. Entry to the gallery and all associated events for this exhibition are free and open to the public.

Gallery talks: on Dec 2 and 4 from 12-12:45 p.m.

What: Fall 2024 Senior Art Exhibition
When: November 22 through December 15; the gallery is open 1 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
Where: UWL University Gallery
Admission: Free and open to the public.
