Every year, any and all UWL students no matter their major may submit up to four works for an opportunity at being displayed at this annual exhibition, with several to be selected for special awards. This year’s juror who will be selecting works to be displayed is Gina Hunt, who has previously collaborated with UWL Art for the 2025 exhibition “Art in Tandem.”

Gina Hunt is an accomplished artist and faculty member at Loyola University Chicago’s Department of Fine and Performing Arts. Hunt’s expertise in color, light, and spatial perception will shape the final exhibition, ensuring a compelling range of artistic approaches. She will provide feedback to the entrants through a written juror’s statement and video commentary.

"When students see their art installed in the Gallery and the ASJAE is a reality, many students say they feel proud and accomplished,” notes UWL Art Gallery Director Deborah-Eve Lombard. “Seeing people turn out to celebrate their art is encouraging to any artist, and some students are excited to add this exhibition to their resumes.”

As submissions to this competition are open to all students on campus, this exhibition boasts a diversity of perspectives and mediums of art. Visitors to the gallery can expect anywhere from painting to sculptures to mixed media, and anywhere in between.

Please note that the Lowe Center for the Arts is currently adjacent to a major parking ramp construction project. For more information on parking, visit uwlax.edu/vpa. Entry to the gallery and all associated events for this exhibition are free and open to the public.
