UWL Celebrates: AAPI Heritage Month & Hmong Heritage Month
Couch Conversation with Nou Xiong & Monica Yang - Register here!

Join us for a UWL Celebrates event in recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month in May and Hmong Heritage Month, which Wisconsin formally recognizes in April. This event will feature a Couch Conversation with Noona Xiong and Monica Yang, two dedicated Hmong women leaders at UWL, along with discussion tables to engage in deeper dialogue.

Meet Our Speakers:

  • Monica Yang (She/Her) is the Youth Protection Coordinator at UWL and a dedicated advocate for student success. With extensive experience in Diversity & Inclusion, Monica has served in various roles at UWL, including her time in the Office of Multicultural Student Services (OMSS). As a Hmong woman, she is passionate about supporting historically underrepresented students and creating inclusive educational spaces.
  • Nou Xiong (She/Her) is a Retention Specialist in OMSS and a recent graduate of the Student Affairs Administration (SAA) master’s program at UWL. As a Hmong woman and student advocate, Noona works closely with students to provide academic and personal support, ensuring they have the resources to thrive on campus.
