Olympic Torch at Murphy

Celebrating UWL Alumna Sharon Evers and the Olympics

Sharon Evers, ’60 & '65, has a deep-seated passion for the Olympics, collecting thousands of Olympic memorabilia. Her dedication earned her the title "Olympic Lady" in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she proudly carried the Olympic Torch leading up to the 1996 Atlanta Games in a relay that zigzagged across the United States. This display celebrates her remarkable journey, featuring her torch and memorabilia, donated to Murphy Library Special Collections.
