Hiking & Forest Bathing

Wellness week event

Join Counseling & Testing Center, Outdoor Connection, and Recreational Management/Recreational Therapy on Thursday, October 10 to support your wellness through connection with nature.  Pre- and post-surveys will be conducted on the day of the event to support our campus’ understanding of how nature supports student wellness.  Register for the activity (hiking or forest bathing) of your choosing.  Please note, those who register for forest bathing will be divided into 2 groups on the day of the event to allow the most students to participate.  Space is limited; we can accommodate up to 10 students for hiking & 20 students for forest bathing.  Deadline to register for the event is Wednesday, October 9 at 12pm.

Register here.

Hiking will entail a trail hike with CTC staff to facilitate the mental health benefits of body movement such as calming the mind, decreasing negative thought patterns, and increasing positive and energetic feelings.  Forest bathing with consist of a walk guided by REC Therapy/Management students to a forest bathing platform where participants can experience this Japanese practice of immersing yourself in nature through your senses; tea, berries & nuts, deep breathing, and mindfulness practices will be included to deepen your experience.
