Spanish Advising Fair

The Spanish Section of the Department of Global Cultures Languages invites you to the Fall 2024 Advising Fair. Language classes will not be held during the advising session (9:00am – 3:00pm). Students are expected to take care of any advising needs on this day. Various informational sessions will also be offered throughout the day.

The following will be available to students throughout the Advising Fair in the LRC, Cartwright Center 339:

- Informative Sessions 9:00am and 1:00pm. Come to one of these informative sessions and learn about:

  • Spanish Major and Minor
  • Spanish for the Professions and Certificates for the Health Professions and Business
  • Spanish Education
  • Studying Abroad
  • Student Organizations and ways of getting involved

- Walk-in General Advising with Spanish Faculty & Staff 9:00am-3:00pm

  • Advising for Spanish Majors and Minors
  • Advising for Spanish for the Professions and Certificates
  • Advising for Spanish Education

- Representatives from IIE (International Education & Engagement) will be available to advise students on opportunities and programs to study abroad:

  • 9:00am - 11:00am – Emily Warnke (IEE International Programs Manager)
  • 1:00pm - 3:00pm – Kim Fuerstenberg (IEE International Programs Manager)

 

- Representatives and Officers from Student Organizations will be available to share information about their clubs and organizations:

  • Sigma Delta Pi, Hispanic Honor Society
  • Spanish Club
  • LASO (Latin American Student Organization)

 

 

- “Ask Me Anything” Table Talk informally to your peers who are Spanish majors and minors, Spanish Education, pursuing Certificates for the Professions, and have studied abroad in various countries about their experiences.

Information Session on Faculty-Led Study Abroad Program to Granada, Spain, Summer 2025, led by Prof. Calmes Wimberly 335, 11:00am-11:55am Granada Program

Prof. Calmes will share information and experiences from this faculty-led program that will take place over four weeks in Granada, Spain (May 26th – June 23rd, 2025.) During this program, students will experience first-hand the Spanish lifestyle by being immersed in its culture, living with a Spanish family, and participating in cultural visits, activities, and trips to other cities/villages in the Andalusian region, such as Seville, Cordoba, and white villages on the Sierra Morena mountains. Students take SPA 396, a class specially designed for this program by Prof. Calmes.

Also, during this informative session students who have previously participated in this program will be sharing their experiences and answering questions.
