Proposed Changes to Faculty Senate Articles of Organization

  • Time: Immediately following Chancellor Beeby's Spring Address (approximately noon)
  • Location: The Bluffs Room in the Student Union
Proposed Amendments:
The proposed amendments to the Faculty Senate Articles of Organization include:
  • Redistribution of Faculty Senate Seats: A revised allocation of the 24 Faculty Senate seats across the university's colleges and schools. This change will better reflect current numbers of faculty in those units [see attached for details].
  • Allowance for 2 Faculty Senate Terms to Be Served Consecutively: Elimination of the required one-year break between terms on Faculty Senate. This change will allow faculty members to serve two consecutive three-year terms before a one-year break is necessary [see attached for details].
Process for Amending Faculty Senate Articles of Organization:
These proposed amendments were approved by the Faculty Senate in Fall 2024. As stated in Item V of the Faculty Senate Articles of Organization:
"V. Amendments to these articles may be adopted at any meeting of the general university faculty by a majority vote of those present provided that any proposed amendment has been approved at a Faculty Senate meeting, has been distributed to the faculty at least one week prior to the general faculty meeting and has been subsequently approved by the chancellor of the university."
