A Showing of Sing Sing

The Bernatovich Jail Literacy Series

Based on the real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts program at Sing Sing Prison, the film depicts a group of incarcerated men creating theater. Sing Sing stars Colman Domingo, Paul Raci, and many real-life formerly incarcerated men including Clarence "Divine Eye" Maclin and Jon-Adrian "JJ" Velazquez. It is directed by Greg Kwedar and written by Clint Bentley and Kwedar.

Stephanie Zacharek of Time describes the film: "It's easy, and comfortable, to pass judgment [but] Sing Sing asks more of us: 'If we believe in our own capacity for growth and change, how can we not extend that good faith to other individuals who have made mistakes?'"

Sing Sing was released by A24 in 2024 and received Academy Award, Critics’ Choice, and Independent Spirit nominations.
