About
The MFI Discussion Group Series will entail twice-monthly group discussions on economics, economic history, entrepreneurship, culture, and politics over free dinners at various local restaurants. The program will generally take place every other Monday or Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
Scholarship Opportunity
Participants will have the opportunity to earn up to a $200 scholarship based on the following criteria:
- $50 for attending at least 5 out of 6 discussion group meetings.
- Up to $100 for attending other MFI events in Spring 2025 (including guest lectures, meals, and presentations).
- $50 for exceptional engagement and effort in all MFI programs and events.
Essays
Reflection Essay (Required)
Students participating in the discussion group will be required to submit a brief reflection essay at the end of the semester, summarizing their key takeaways and insights. This should discuss what you have learned about the between entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic outcomes. Consider how government intervention may foster or hinder this relationship. The top three reflection essays will be rewarded with a bonus scholarship.

Research Essay (Optional)
Students have the opportunity to earn a bonus scholarship by submitting a short research essay that explores a discussion/event topic in closer details. This can be related to any of the MFI events taking place this semester.

- 800 word minimum
- Rewards between $100 and $500 for qualifying submissions
- Due within two weeks following MFI events
