Joint Ethics Advisory Committee (JEAC)

Purpose: In response to compliance requirements within Chapter UWS 8 of the Wisconsin Administrative Code (UWS 8.035), the UWL Joint Ethics Committee functions to provide to any member of the unclassified staff (faculty, IAS, NIAS, and limited employees) consultation and advice on the application of this chapter. Committee deliberations and actions upon requests for consultation or advice are in meetings not open to the public.
The committee chair provides an annual report that either 1) summaries of advice provided by institutional ethics committees, which do not disclose the identities of persons requesting such advice or 2) indicates that no inquiries were made. The report is made public by the Universities of Wisconsin.

Membership
- Convenor - UWL Compliance Officer
- Note: Serves as convenor only; does not serve on committee due to compliance role at the university and the advisory nature of the committee.

- 1 tenured faculty/1 IAS (or two tenured if no IAS volunteers)
Bylaws & Archives
- As this committee is for consultation and advice, it is called only when needed and does not have free-standing bylaws. However, an annual report is required.
