Join us for the 22nd annual UWL Turkey Trot! Our race is the area's original Turkey Trot and is a popular Thanksgiving tradition for many friends and families! Junior Gobbler races feature the dash and half mile. Awards given to 3 mile race winners in age groups, top finishers, closest predictors, color contest, and costume contest winners. Money raised goes toward our community benefactor WisCorps and scholarships for UWL students.

Official results for the UWL Turkey Trot are providedutilizing a BibChip timing system.  Disposable chips are embedded into participant's bibs ensuring the most accurate finish time for each participant.  Trotters time will start when they cross the start line and end when they cross the finish line.  Unofficial results are available at the finish line and the overall results will be posted in the Recreational Eagle Center at the conclusion of the race and complete results will also be online.

Turkey Trotters will find predicted time signs out at the start of the race, please put yourself in that area to help with the flow of runners and to keep everyone safe. If you are bringing a stroller to this event, please place yourself in the last timing areas (41:01 and up).

Please arrive to your predicted time area before 9am.  The trot will start at 9am sharp.

The course

5k RACE: course is flat and includes a section through the La Crosse Marsh trail system. The race starts near Veterans Memorial Monument and finishes near the Recreational Eagle Center. *.

Jr. GOBBLER RACES: will take place on the track in Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Start time of races

  • 3 MILE RACE: 9am start, register/check in at the Recreational Eagle Center
  • 1 MILE: Racers will line up behind the 5K participants and their start will be shortly after 5K leaves. Check in/register at the Recreational Eagle Center
  • JR. GOBBLER RACES (Dash & 1/2 Mile): 10:45am start at Veterans Memorial Stadium

Prizes and awards  
You don't have to be the fastest runner to be a winner in the Turkey Trot. We reward participants who most closely predict their finish time along with the top finishers.  

Closest predictors
"Chip time" is used to identify who most closely predicts their finish time. The top 3 male and 3 female predictors without going over win a prize.

Top finishers
"Gun time" is used to determine the top finishers in the race.  All those participants wishing to compete for this top finisher award must race in corral 1, estimated finish time of under 24:00.  The top overall 3 male and 3 female finishers win medals and awards. 

Awards age divisions
"Chip time: is used to determine the top 3 male and 3 female finishers in each age division.  Top 3 in each age division will win medals.

9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, & 70+

1 mile race

The 1 mile race is untimed and will not have any awards associated with this fun run/walk. Prizes and awards will only be awarded to participants in the 3 mile.
