Graduate & Extended Learning support for grants
Are you writing a grant to host a speaker, workshop or conference? Do you want to include community outreach as part of a proposal? Graduate & Extended Learning (GEL) can provide support for grant-funded activities that go "above and beyond" the regular workload of an academic department.
- GEL works regularly with campus partners on youth protection, room reservations, catering, and AV services, so we stay current with changes in policies and procedures.
- We can help you host events ranging from youth camps to formal receptions.
- We provide web and graphic design services, so you can communicate clearly and professionally with your participants via print, email, direct mail, and conference programs.
- We are adept at building online registrations forms and can collect credit card payments, develop and track your outreach budget, arrange contracts, and pay your bills.
Paying for our services
GEL is a self-funded unit, which means that much of our funding comes from external sources, such as registration fees, grants, and administrative charges paid by our partners.
We will work with you to develop an understanding of what services you need, and what our labor cost is to provide them. That labor cost can be included in your grant proposal budget as an administrative fee. Fringes will not be charged against that budget item.

Complete this brief form to express your interest. Provide a short summary of the activities you are considering as part of your grant, and we will work from there.
If you decide to work with us, we will help you develop a succinct description of the proposed activities and budgetary information to include in your proposal.
Funded grants including our services
NSF CAREER award to Dr. Sujat Sen, Chemistry & Biochemistry
GEL will provide youth protection oversight, design a website, maintain registration services, and handle campus arrangements for a summer youth program as part of the grant's Broader Impacts activities.
"The review panel mentioned that the outreach activities were in particular very promising and well planned — thanks again for your assistance in shaping them!"
NSF Engines award to Dr. Eric Strauss, Biology & River Studies Center
GEL has drawn on expertise from the Office of Online & Professional Learning Resources (OPLR) to perform a skills gap analysis and identify training courses needed for workforce development.
“Working with GEL keeps the work moving forward while I’m busy with teaching and research during the semester. It has also enhanced what we can do with the project.”
US DOE and WI DPI award to Dr. Rob Dixon, School Psychology
GEL provides marketing services, oversees scholarship payments, coordinates campus arrangements for an annual on-campus event, and oversees the program grant budget.
"GEL's support of the activities funded by the grant has been instrumental to our successful launch of the online graduate program."
