Mayo Clinic & UWL Collaborative Seed Grant Program

A page within Research & Sponsored Programs

The purpose of the Mayo Clinic & UWL Collaborative Seed Grant Program is to provide funds for projects that stimulate collaboration and synergistic proposal development between Mayo Clinic & UWL investigators in areas of basic and applied research applicable to human health. Projects funded under this program should be well-designed and with clear milestones. It is the expectation that competitive proposals, based on studies funded by this program, will be subsequently submitted to extramural agencies or foundations for funding. Investigators from both institutions must participate in the development and execution of proposed projects.

Proposal Information

Before submission, all applications must undergo the UWL grant review and approval process; please contact the UWL Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (ORSP) to begin the process. Allow sufficient time for review and approval by chair(s), dean(s), and ORSP. Contact ORSP (grants@uwlax.edu) with questions.

Number & Amount of Awards: Maximum of 3 awards of up to $20,000 each; $50,000 in total funding are being provided in FY2025 (with funds to be spent by March 31, 2026).

Note for deans/division directors: The program requires 50% of the total requested amount to be covered by the applicant’s college/division, which must be confirmed as part of the university review and approval process.
