Hardware
Before placing a purchase request review Computer Lifecycle Management 9.5.pdf . All campus technology hardware purchases should be made through the Campus Technology Purchasing form. By using this site you ensure your hardware is supported by ITS.
VoIP Phones and Headsets
Departments are responsible for purchasing new VoIP phones and accessories. Get information about purchasing VoIP phones, conference phones, and headsets. All campus VoIP Phone and Headset purchases should be made through the Campus Technology Purchasing form.
Software
All UWL owned computers are entitled to the following software (available for Mac's and PCs)
- Microsoft Windows 10 Education x64 (Installed by ITS)
- Microsoft Office 365
- Microsoft Project (PC only)
- Microsoft Visio (PC only)
- IBM SPSS Statistical Analysis
Departments can purchase other software by following the steps located on the UWL Purchasing site.

Laptop Recommendations (Windows/PC or Mac)
- 256 GB SSD storage
- 16 GB RAM
- Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor
- Latest Windows 10 or MacOS
- Increased storage, RAM, processor speed are better if your budget allows.
We do not recommend Chromebooks or iPads as primary devices. They are great additional resources to a laptop or desktop, but they are not sufficient replacements.

There is not an ID# required. Apple will verify enrollment.
Software
We provide Microsoft Office 365 for free! Students can download Office from their email portal. Check out the KBs here for more information: Microsoft Office 365 Pro Plus For Students or Office 365 - Accessing Office 365 Applications Online.
Full-time students can purchase software developed by Adobe, Autodesk, IBM SPSS, Microsoft, Nuance and more at reduced prices from the Wisconsin Integrated Software Catalog (WISC) at www.wisc.edu/wisc.
