Complete your undergraduate and master's degrees in just 5 years!

Completing the dual degree program in Exercise Science and Athletic Training is a great opportunity for highly motivated students.

Our dual degree program enables students to complete two degrees: a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Exercise Science, Pre-Professional Track, and a Master of Science in Athletic Training from UW-La Crosse.

Our dual degree students spend less time in school and pay less tuition, because they are completing in five years what would typically take six years if the degrees were completed separately. A total of 25 credits count towards both degrees.

  • Undergraduate applicants to UWL may request admission to the dual degree program. Current students may declare the dual degree major by submitting a Change of Program Form
  • Declaring the dual degree major does not guarantee admission to the Athletic Training graduate program.
  • To be considered for AT program admission, a UWL dual degree student must meet the following requirements:
  • Students admitted to the Athletic Training program must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA in all course work and demonstrate clinical progression. Failure to meet retention criteria will result in probationary status. If a student does not meet criteria in two consecutive terms, they will be removed from the program.
  • If a student is accepted into the Athletic Training Graduate Program and chooses not to continue, a maximum of nine credit hours can be utilized to complete the ESS: Exercise Science Pre-Professional Track Program. Additional courses to complete the ESS: Exercise Science Pre-Professional Track Program include CHM 104, ESS 383, and a BIO or MIC course (excluding BIO 105, BIO 312, and BIO 313).
