New donor provides support for Murphy Library’s WSJ.com subscription
Support for Murphy Library’s subscription to WSJ.com, the online version of the Wall Street Journal, is now funded by a generous gift from the Gordon & Barbara Gade Fund.
In spring 2023, Murphy Library, with the generous support of the College of Business Administration, acquired a campuswide subscription to WSJ.com. This provides all UWL faculty, staff and students with unlimited access to news, curated newsletters, podcasts and videos, career insights and other content available through WSJ.com. Funding from the Gordon & Barbara Gade Fund will ensure continued access to WSJ.com for at least the next four years.
College of Business Administration Dean Taggert Brooks facilitated the donor relationship while engaging in conversation with Gordon Gade, a University of Wisconsin-La Crosse alumnus who graduated from the university in 1958 with a degree in economics. Gade’s wife, Barbara, was from the La Crosse area and passed away in 2007.
“Securing an outside donor for our WSJ.com access ensures that students and faculty, especially in the College of Business Administration, will have continued use of this resource for years to come,” said Pam Cipkowski, Collection Development Librarian at Murphy Library. “We are grateful for the generosity of the Gordon & Barbara Gade Fund to make this happen.”
Faculty, staff and students can activate their complimentary WSJ.com membership by going to WSJ.com/uwlax and creating an account using their UWL email and generating a new password.
