Library Construction - Summer 2017

Posted 5:04 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017

The basement and second floor will receive new carpeting and wall paint during the summer. Some areas will be temporarily sectioned off and unavailable for use.

Please pardon the inconvenience while carpets are replaced and walls are painted! This summer, the basement and the second floor will undergo a major update similar to the first floor work that took place during the past year.

UPDATES: Work on the 2nd floor will begin earlier than expected - as early as June 6. Work in the basement will not be completed by July 1 but will extend later into July.

Basement - starting May 15 through about July 1 (see update above for new dates), carpet and tile will be replaced and walls will be painted in the basement. This will affect most parts of the basement including study carrels, the map room, and other individual rooms and study spaces. Work begins on the library's north side, progressing to the south side. Second floor - starting around July 1 through August 15 (see update above for new dates), work will begin on the second floor, including the main areas and the group study rooms. Carpet will be replaced and walls will be painted. Areas will be sectioned off while work is being done. Please feel free to continue to use Murphy Library during this time, but be aware that some areas will be temporarily unavailable on a day-to-day basis depending on where work is taking place. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and encourage you to ask for assistance if you are looking for materials in areas that are temporarily inaccessible.
