A new location
Technology and Reference Services Librarian Scott Pfitzinger tells us about the research and reference assistance desk at Murphy Library:
What are the latest updates that students should know about the research & reference services that Murphy Library offers?
We can help students find articles and other sources for their research papers and can help them learn about which databases are most useful for different subjects. We can also help with citations for research paper bibliographies.
Why the location change of the research and reference desk?
We now have a new, larger Reference Desk that has a big screen TV attached. This will make it easier for groups to get assistance since we have more seats and better visibility of the computer screen. We are also now in a more central location, with greater visibility and physical presence in the library.
Why should a student make time to visit the Reference Desk?
When it comes to doing research, nothing beats a professional librarian! While students may be quite good at finding research sources on their own, they can always benefit from the free assistance of a professional.
Anything else that students should know about this part of Murphy Library?
We also have the Ready Reference bookshelves next to the Reference Desk, so if you need to look up facts in an encyclopedia, dictionary, technical manual, or citation guide, we have some of those materials right by the desk.
Stop by whenever the desk is staffed! We're here to help you in any way we can. Find us at the foot of the stairs on the main floor leading up to the second floor.
