Teen Books: Not Just for Teens Anymore - Murphy Library Celebrates Teen Literature

Teen librarian and local author will present “Teen Books: Not Just for Teens Anymore” showing how and why Young Adult Literature should be part of every person’s reading life (regardless of age) on Monday, November 14, 2016.

A teen librarian and a local author will present “Teen Books: Not Just for Teens Anymore,” showing how and why young adult literature should be part of every person’s reading life, regardless of age. Linda Jerome, teen librarian at the La Crosse Public Library, and Amanda Zieba, local young adult author and educator, will present “Teen Books: Not Just for Teens Anymore” from noon – 1 p.m., Monday, November 14, 2016, at the Institute for Campus Excellence in Murphy Library at UW-La Crosse. The event is free and open to members of the public. Jerome will discuss how young adolescent and young adult literature can help adults connect to middle school children. Zieba, a middle school English teacher and children’s/young adult author, will discuss how she incorporates young adult literature into her classroom and her experiences as an author. Finally, Jerome will discuss the challenges associated with banned teen literature and the merits of getting a library card into the hands of young adolescents. The presentation is sponsored by UW-La Crosse’s Murphy Library, The La Crosse Public Library, and the UW-L School of Education. About Linda Jerome – Linda Jerome is the teen librarian at the La Crosse Public Library and has been working with teens for the last 15 years of her 26-year library career. She finds teens to be the most fascinating, amusing and delightful group of human beings. About Amanda Zieba – Amanda Zieba is a middle school English teacher by day, a wife and mother always, and a writer any minute she can squeeze in.
