Adze - Trihedral
This stone tool is a trihedral, or three-sided, adze that would have been used for cutting or shaping materials like wood. The adze is made of rhyolite and was bifacially chipped, meaning it was worked on two sides. It was found on the surface of a beach at a site in Oneida County, Wisconsin, along with other artifacts such as a quartz side scraper, lithic flakes, and a few pieces of worked copper scrap. While not definitively dated, the site could have been occupied in the Late Paleo or late Archaic period.
