Summit Environmental School
MVAC’s Jean Dowiasch was present when Summit Environmental School teacher Deb Klaeser was awarded a grant from the La Crosse Public Education Foundation to incorporate archaeology into the school’s curriculum. MVAC worked with students earlier this school year to shovel test the school grounds which resulted in the recovery of both prehistoric and historic artifacts. The grant will allow the students and MVAC to conduct Phase II testing to determine the significance of the prehistoric site, with the students participating in every aspect of the archaeology process. MVAC staff will also provide the school with classroom presentations and education resources related to archaeology and the Early People of the La Crosse area. MVAC’s Jean Dowiasch appears partway through this WKBT piece. Link to the WKBT piece - La Crosse schools receive education grants. MVAC’s Jean Dowiasch is quoted in this La Crosse Tribune Article.
