Thatch

Thatch Thatch is bundles of reeds or grasses.  It was used to cover the walls and roofs of houses, as bedding, and to line storage pits.  Masses of thatch have been found charred and preserved in refuse pits.  Pictured is thatch being excavated in the late 1980s from the Midway Village site located north of La Crosse, Wisconsin.
