Throwback Thursday – Guest Cup – Valley View Mall
Throwback Thursday - In the early days of archaeology at UW-La Crosse, a cooler of cold water was the height of comfort, and visitors were cordially invited to use the carefully labeled (and occasionally cleaned) Guest Cup. Here Rollie Rodell serves up a cup at the Valley View site in 1979. Directed by Jim Gallagher and Kathy Stevenson, Valley View was UWL’s first archaeology field school and major excavation, when the Valley View Mall was being built. At the time, this late precontact Oneota site was only the 34th recorded archaeological site in La Crosse County. Now there are over 900!
