Throwback Thursday – 1980 Overhead Open House
Throwback Thursday - Open house at the Overhead site near La Crosse in 1980, with Margaret Mills sitting at the informational table on soils. During this large, development-related excavation, Margaret and even other undergraduates from UW-La Crosse and other schools (Heidi Fassler, Chris Hill, Karene Motivans, Sherry Neff, Resa Silha, Randy Withrow) conducted research on soils, ceramics, lithics, and flora/fauna under a National Science Foundation Student-Originated Studies grant. Dr. James Gallagher, founder of MVAC, was faculty adviser for the grant and directed the excavation, along with Kathy Stevenson, currently MVAC's Operations Manager.
