Sanford Archaeological District – Perrot Punctate Variant

Oneota pottery This Oneota vessel exhibits a slight variant on the nested chevron design: a panel of four upside-down, oblique tool trails with vertical tool trails inside the oblique lines, and a border of long, thin punctates around the entire panel. Additional panels to the left and right are the same but lack the punctate border. All of the tool decorations are very fine and deep and were made when the clay was still wet. Recovered in the early 2000s at the Sanford Archaeological District in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
