Six student athlete alumni and a former athletic administrator will be inducted into the UW-L Wall of Fame Sunday, Oct. 12.

The alumni, their sports and years they were athletes at UW-L:

• Jill Jacobson, Tennis, 1985-89 • John Janke, Football, 1990-93 • Mark Morehouse, Swimming, 1993-97 • Glenn Mueller, Bowling, 1966-70 • Andrew Rock, Track & Field, 2001-04 • Laura Pastore Ziegler, Gymnastics, 1991-95 The Wall of Fame pays tribute to former athletes and coaches for their exceptional ability and enhancement of school tradition. In addition former Athletic Director Bridget Belgiovine will receive the Donald Gordon Merit Award, which recognizes long-time supporters of UW-L athletics. This year’s inductees will be honored during a brunch at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, in the Cleary Alumni & Friends Center. Tickets are $25 per person; $10 for those 12 and under. [caption id="attachment_36431" align="alignright" width="136"] Jill (Jacobson) Bratberg[/caption] Jill (Jacobson) Bratberg Athlete: 1985-89 Inducted: Oct. 12, 2014 Jill Jacobson lettered all four years in tennis. From 1985-88 she assisted the team in being named sectional champions and advancing to nationals. Her biggest collegiate athletic accomplishment was earning the conference title at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in 1988, beating UW-Whitewater in both matches. Jacobson earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management in 1990. She is assistant athletic director at Winona State University. Jacobson and her husband, Al Bratberg, ’86, live in rural Trempealeau, with their 10-year-old triplets, Avali, Boden and Kayli. [caption id="attachment_36430" align="alignleft" width="136"] John Janke[/caption] John Janke Athlete: 1990-93 Inducted: Oct. 12, 2014 Playing in four national football championships — and winning one title — highlighted John Janke’s collegiate career. Janke was named to four straight all-conference teams, and many of his accomplishments remain in the UW-L record book. The running back returned as a student coach in 1994. He attributes the success to his outstanding teammates. Janke earned a bachelor’s in elementary and middle-level education in 1995. He is currently the activities director at Shakopee Public Schools. Janke lives with his wife, Stephanie, in Shakopee, Minnesota, with their two children, Alysa (15) and Bryce (13). [caption id="attachment_36429" align="alignright" width="136"] Mark Morehouse[/caption] Mark Morehouse Athlete: 1993-97 Inducted: Oct. 12, 2014 Mark Morehouse swam to success at UW-L, lettering all four years. Earning All-American honors in the 400-meters his senior year was his biggest athletic accomplishment, along with beating rival UW-Eau Claire. He returned as an assistant coach in 2006-07. Morehouse graduated with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education in 1998 and earned a master’s degree in exercise and sport science in 2007. He teaches chemistry and is the head boys swim coach at Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, Colorado, where he lives with his wife, Ginger (Wagner), and their son, Finley (3). [caption id="attachment_36424" align="alignleft" width="136"] Glenn Mueller[/caption] Glenn Mueller Athlete: 1966-70 Inducted: Oct. 12, 2014 Bowler Glenn Mueller rolled his way into the UW-L record book. He was on the NAIA championship team from 1967-69, and the conference championship team from 1967-70. In 1969, he was the U.S. representative to the national collegiate bowling championship world cup in Japan, placing sixth. He rolled the all-time, three-game series record of 750 on the campus’ Teigen Lanes. Mueller earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1971. He managed and owned numerous bowling alleys after graduation and coached the UW-Whitewater NCAA team in 2002, the year he retired. Mueller and his wife, Lynn, live in Naples, Florida. They have two grown children, Kim and Lisa. [caption id="attachment_36426" align="alignright" width="136"] Andrew Rock[/caption] Andrew Rock Athlete: 2001-04 Inducted: Oct. 12, 2014 The university’s only Olympic Gold Medal athlete, Andrew Rock ran to success at UW-L too. All four years, he participated in the men’s indoor and outdoor teams, capturing national championships — and conference titles — with both. The 17-time All-American attributes his success to his teammates. Rock graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance in 2004. He is head track & field coach for men and women, and equipment room supervisor at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota. He lives in Prior Lake, Minnesota, with his wife, Melissa, and their three children, Athulya (6), Isaiah (3) and Josiah (1). [caption id="attachment_36423" align="alignleft" width="136"] Laura Ziegler[/caption] Laura Pastore Ziegler Athlete: 1991-95 Inducted: Oct. 12, 2014 Laura Pastore Ziegler says her biggest collegiate, athletic accomplishment was making the reputable gymnastics team as a freshman. The two-time All-American went on to become the national vault champion in 1995, and a finalist at nationals on floor and beam. Co-SIDA and the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association named her an Academic All-American twice. Ziegler graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy in 1996. She is supervisor of outpatient therapies in DeForest. Ziegler lives with her husband, Brian Ziegler, ’92, in Waunakee with their two children, Danny (11) and AJ (8). [caption id="attachment_36428" align="alignright" width="136"] Bridget Belgiovine[/caption] Bridget Ann Belgiovine Donald Gordon Merit Award Inducted Oct. 12, 2014 Bridget Belgiovine helped expand the reputation of the UW-L Athletics Department as athletic director from 1991-97. During those six years, the Eagles won 14 national championships and had 65 teams represented at national competition. UW-L also brought home 34 WIAC championships, winning four conference All-Sports Awards, given to the conference’s most successful program, and five All-Academic Awards, bestowed upon the school with the highest GPA across all sports. Belgiovine lives in Wellesley, Massachusetts, where she is director of athletics and chair of the Physical Education and Recreation Department.
