UWL Theatre remounts ‘Chicago’ Posted 10:27 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2015 The UW-La Crosse Department of Theatre presents the encore performance of “Chicago” to raise funds for UWL theatre student scholarships. Read more about UWL Theatre remounts ‘Chicago’ Kate Hawkes, assistant professor of art, shared her visual interpretation of how students in her classes learn during the UWL Conference on Teaching and Learning. A poster with four main sections of diffused dots (foreground) represents students learning in a studio setting where they are concentrating on four different projects and their understanding of each is expanding. The other poster displays a class with course-embedded research and students work together in small groups — clusters of understanding — and then eventually break out, grow and learn alone. “This is how I think of things,” explains Hawkes. “I’m very visual and this helps me understand it.”

Alumna is the voice of morning news across Wisconsin Posted 5:48 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 As the new host of "Morning Edition," Maureen McCollum’s voice is now broadcast across Wisconsin Public Radio’s 34 stations. She started Aug. 5, succeeding UWL alum Terry Bell, ’88, who hosted the WPR program from 1999 until spring of this year.
