Mike Wolf attended UWL from 1985-90. He was originally recruited to play basketball, but his athletics experience expanded to include track & field. Wolf bought Lindy’s Subs & Salads in 1990 when he was a couple credits short of graduating. He’s been the owner ever since.

A highlight of alumnus Mike Wolf’s UWL experience: Being on the Track & Field team in the late 1980s. They traveled, won a national championship, and Wolf became an All-American in the high jump.
After three years of bus trips and competitions, Wolf thought, “It’s time to get a job.”
He started making sandwiches at Lindy’s Subs & Salads during his last year and a half of college. That’s where he met his wife, Deanna (Cotrell) Wolf, ’89, on the sandwich line and ended up taking over managing the business aspects of Lindy’s, until he became owner in 1990.
But Wolf hasn’t forgotten his UWL days on the track team and the accountancy and finance classes that helped him turn a college job into a future career.
For the last 15 years, Wolf has been donating about 150-200 subs a year to the UWL Alumni & Friends Golf Outing. He has also donated subs and chips to the press box workers at all home football games. Wolf says donating product is one of the best ways for him to give back because it promotes his business while reminding fellow alumni of the great taste of Lindy’s.
