Introducing the UWL Alumni & Friends Foundation
It’s official.
As of July 1, 2023, the UWL Foundation and the UWL Alumni Association have joined forces to become the UWL Alumni & Friends Foundation.
This new alignment comes with a variety of benefits for supporters of UWL, including the elimination of alumni membership dues and new ways to engage with the university. (Learn more about how these changes could affect you.)
It will also help streamline operations and planning within the Foundation, leading to a better experience for all involved.
“These two organizations have worked hand-in-hand over the past 50-plus years, and I believe this new structure will help us serve our students, alumni, friends and UWL in the best possible way,” says Janie Morgan, ’85 & ’86, executive director of strategic engagement. “Our alumni and friends deserve the very best, and we plan to deliver.”
Leadership and board members from each organization had been exploring the potential benefits of this realignment for nearly two years. After resolving to become one entity, they worked in close collaboration to ensure a smooth transition for alumni, donors, friends and the new organization itself.
Greg Reichert, vice chancellor of Advancement and president of the Foundation, says the new arrangement aligns with current best practices across higher education, and has the potential to bring UWL’s alumni engagement and fundraising efforts to the next level.
“It will allow the activities that we do to advance UWL to be seamless and should create a more fulfilling experience for our alumni and benefactors,” he says. “We are very excited to see it in action.”
