Women’s Track & Field Coach Pat Healy completes stellar 25 years

His quarter century of coaching the women’s track & field teams has led to 25 top-five finishes nationally — along with two national championships. As the Eagles' head track & field coach from 1991-2016, Pat Healy has led UWL to 21 NCAA III top-four finishes in indoor and outdoor championships. And, the Eagles have finished in the top 10 in 40 of a possible 49 national championships, as well as a sweep of the 2015 NCAA III indoor and outdoor titles. For his efforts, Healy was selected the 2015 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Indoor and Outdoor Coach of the Year. He was the third coach ever to earn indoor and outdoor coach of the year honors in the same season. It marked Healy's fourth indoor (1997, 2000, 2001 and 2015) and second outdoor (1998, 2015) national coach-of-the-year honors. Along with the two national titles, Healy has led UWL to five second-place finishes (1993, 1999, 2001, 2009 and 2014) at the indoor NCAA III championships and two second-place finishes (1993 and 1997) in the outdoors. Healy was USTFCCCA Midwest Region Indoor Coach of the Year three times (1997, 2000 and 2001) and Outdoor Coach of the Year in 2014. UWL won 16 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference indoor titles under Healy, including 14 of the last 17. He was named the WIAC Indoor Coach of the Year 13 times. The Eagles have won 18 outdoor conference titles under Healy, including 16 of the last 19. He has been named the WIAC Outdoor Coach of the Year 10 times. A total of 454 NCAA Division III All-America honors (198 indoor; 256 outdoor) were earned under Healy. UWL has 17 individual and nine relay national championships in Healy's tenure, along with 24 of 26 indoor school records under Healy and 18 of 27 outdoor records. The success has continued academically. UWL has earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Award all 18 seasons it has been awarded. UWL was the 2014-15 Scholar Team of the Year in NCAA III for both indoor and outdoor. The Eagles also won the indoor scholar team award in 2007, and has had a 3.30 grade point average since 1992. As head cross-country coach from 1991-2011, Healy guided the harriers to 13 NCAA III top-10 finishes and captured four WIAC cross-country titles. Healy was named WIAC Coach of the Year each season. During 2001-02, UWL earned top-four national trophies in the "triple crown" (cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field) for the first time since 1983-84.   [caption id="attachment_46044" align="alignleft" width="245"]Pat Healy Pat Healy[/caption] Pat Healy Retirement Reception set Monday, May 23 1 to 3 p.m. (presentation at 2) Third floor of the press box at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex (access via the elevator in the Hall of Honor)
