Deborah Miller to Residence Life, Dec. 4 Bill Olson transfer within Cowley Hall Custodial Services, Dec. 18 We would like to thank everyone for your cards, thoughts and prayers during our 15-month-old grandson’s surgeries. Finnegan came out of the biopsy surgery very well. However, after the first major surgery — with only 30 percent of the tumor taken and some paralysis — more surgery has been delayed until he gains some strength back. If you would like to follow his progress, Mike and Nicky are updating a website on caringbridge.org/visit (use finneganringdroski as the sign in). Thank you again during this difficult time for our family. - Pat and Kathy Ring. Thank you to everyone who made my retirement celebration on December 16 such a memorable event for me and my family. I thoroughly enjoyed my 30 years at UW-La Crosse and have been proud to work with such an outstanding group of staff and students. I wish each of you only the very best. - Paul Rifkin. Sally Fink, a member of Chartwells Campus Dining Catering Services staff, died unexpectedly in her sleep Tuesday, Dec. 20 at her home in New Albin, Iowa. For the past 20 years she was as a member of UW-L’s Chartwells staff. She was a wonderful presence at major events including the recent Chancellor's Holiday Reception. "After taking care of her three grandchildren all day, she hustled her way to the Cleary Center to help me and staff with the party. Always a trooper and always a pillar of strength for us when we needed help the most. She was an angel on earth, and now her duties will continue above,” says Vickey Moutsopoulos, a friend and colleague. For more information about Sally's life see the obituary in the La Crosse Tribune.
