UW-L Adopt-A-Highway Clean-up set

The UW-L Adopt-A- Highway crew will hold its next clean-up Wednesday, June. 26. The crew meets at 6 p.m. at Hwy 33 and Korn Clements Road. The group cleans up Hwy 33 east to Korn Coulee Road. All employees and their families are welcome to attend. There will be a potluck dinner following; those wishing to attend should bring a dish to pass. For more information, contact Brad Quarberg, University Communications, at bquarberg@uwlax.edu.

Immigration discussion set at UW-La Crosse

A community conversation on immigration reform runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, in the Hall of Nations in UW-L’s Centennial Hall. Admission is free. The conversation aims to discuss the impact of immigration on the community, along with exploring the realities that undocumented children, families and workers face in the Coulee Region. Panelists leading the discussion will represent UW-L, Viterbo University, Lugar de Reunion Community Center in Sparta, Onalaska School District English as a Second Language program, community healthcare facilities, and the area legal community.The event, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the UW-L Ethnic and Racial Studies Department, Lugar de Reunion Community Center in Sparta and AMOS.

Don’t forget to turn in vacation carryover request by June 28

If you received an email from Human Resources indicating you have vacation carry over available, be sure to complete the Request for Vacation Carryover Approval form. The link is provided below.

Here is the email:

If you are receiving this communication, you have been identified as an annual appointment with a vacation balance remaining for fiscal year 2012/2013.

All individuals must request approval to carryover vacation above a defined amount into the next fiscal year, which begins July 1. However, individuals that have completed 10 full years of employment as of June 30, 2013, are eligible to bank hours into the Annual Reserve Leave Account (ALRA). If you are eligible, please DO NOT request approval for any carry over hours you intend to bank into ALRA. Please note those who are eligible will have the option to request banking of carryover hours into ALRA on your July 2013 leave report.

Please note the following information below:

Annual appointments earning vacation have the opportunity to carryover vacation hours into the next fiscal year.

Automatic carryover is as follows:

100 percent appointment: 40 hours will automatically carryover.

Less than 100 percent appointment: Prorated hours (based upon appointment percent) will automatically carryover. Example: 80 percent appointment will have 32 hours of carryover

To request the carryover of additional hours:
