The decorations and items displayed for the event come mainly from South America, Russia, Europe and China.[/caption] UW-L's Language Resource Center held an open house March 10 in 321 Graff Main Hall. The event celebrated the study of languages and brought together the campus community while showcasing language resources. "The study of languages represents a crucial link in the global world that students are preparing to enter," Laurence Couturier, Modern Languages, says. "We are pleased to have this space in which students are able to develop their skills." The LRC was updated two years ago with new Apple computers. A research linguistic Lab was recently added. The LRC offers a unique opportunity to language learners to practice speaking skills with a conversation partner — an advanced language student or native speaker. A schedule is available at www2.uwlax.edu/Modern-Languages/Tutoring/. Language classes are held in the LRC when computer use by students is part of the class. Foreign movies and camcorders are available in the LRC to language students. The LRC is a place for community between language learners, language faculty and many any other departments. Find out more about Modern Languages at www2.uwlax.edu/Modern-Languages/. See more photos of the open house at http://goo.gl/QkSWTX.Interviews for UW System VP set for March 20
