Eagle Planner replaces Student + Staff Directory

Eagle Planner Poster 8A new calendar planner is helping students and staff schedule appointments and get acclimated to campus. The Eagle Planner has been distributed to on-campus students in residence halls, and to off-campus students at Textbook Rental. Faculty and staff received copies through campus mail. The newly designed Eagle Planner combines the former Student+Staff Directory and student planner. A contract with the university and About Campus, who published both, expired at the end of the 2014-15 academic year. The company did not extend a new contract for a directory, but opted to publish an expanded planner that includes information previously published in the front section of the directory, along with important academic dates. University Communications has coordinated the book and its distribution. The planner is free; supplies are limited. Copies are available at Textbook Rental. Refer any questions to Brad Quarberg, News & Marketing, bquarberg@uwlax.edu.

Gross will also give a physics seminar on “The enduring legacy of Albert Einstein” at 3:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at the same location. Gross earned the Nobel Prize for helping explain the strong force, a force that ties together quarks, the smallest pieces of matter in the universe.

Changes to photocopiers and public-access workstations

The library's photocopiers, which are located on the first floor near the microfilm shelves, are multifunction machines that scan items to email or external drives. To print paper copies from these machines, users must visit the administrative office, Room 111, between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Staff will assist with copying and will take payment of $.10 per page for copies.
The six public access workstations have been reconfigured. Two are standing computer stations that require no login and are restricted to library resources and government websites. The other four, which require login with NetID, are seated computer stations with access to all resources. These can be used by members of the public, who must print a temporary login and password at the nearby ID kiosk.
