Provide feedback related to UWL’s reaccreditation process

The UWL campus community is invited to continue participating in the reaccreditation process by providing their feedback on the draft of UWL’s Assurance Argument. This document provides campus responses to five criteria within a strict word limit. This document, along with supporting evidence, will be reviewed by the peer reviewers who will visit campus in April 2016. The link to the draft, as well as instructions for and the survey for feedback are available on the UWL reaccreditation website. The Firm Footing quality initiative, adopted by the campus in 2012, was one component of this process. The final report has been submitted to HLC. It can also be viewed on the UWL reaccreditation website. The survey for feedback on the Assurance Argument will close on Friday, Oct. 9. In addition to the survey for feedback, questions about the HLC accreditation process can be addressed at the Provost's Office Hours in October and the Chancellor's Open Forums throughout the school year. Fall health challenge — 'More Matters'

Ready for a new challenge this fall? The fall health challenge, More Matters, will be delicious! It's one of the Wellness at Work challenges developed for workplaces by Health Tradition Health Plan and Mayo Clinic Health System wellness experts. Participants do not have to be a Health Traditions health insurance plan member. All UWL employees are eligible to participate.
More servings of fruits and vegetables matter for good health. According to Mayo Clinic research, eating five or more servings a day reduces stroke risk by 26 percent.
Another study showed seven or more servings of vegetables and fruits were linked to the lowest risk of death from all causes including cancer, heart disease and stroke.
For this challenge, the goal is at least five servings — fruit with breakfast, a side salad at lunch, an afternoon apple or vegetables and dip, and two vegetables at dinner.
Begin tracking your fruit and vegetable consumption by printing the Tracker-2015-MoreMatters form.
"More Matters" challenge begins Sunday, Sept. 13, and runs through Saturday, Oct. 10.  At the end of the challenge, a drawing will be held for Health Tradition Health Plan's challenge incentives, handy hot and cold lunch coolers, as well as other great prizes.
To assist in meeting the fresh fruits and vegetables requirements each day and to support local farmers, UWL will have an on-campus farmer's markets beginning Monday, Sept. 14, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The farmer's market will be at the Wittich/Centennial Hall sidewalk. The markets will continue Mondays until the end of the growing season.

Schedule library instruction sessions

Every year, thousands of UWL students benefit from hands-on research instruction on topics like search strategies, source evaluation, and database orientations. Librarians work with faculty and staff to create sessions tailored to the needs of students, including supporting specific assignments within a course. Instructors can bring classes to the library, or a librarian can visit the classroom. Faculty and staff are encouraged to request instruction sessions as early as possible because the program gets busy, particularly in the opening weeks of the semester. To learn more or schedule a session, visit the library instruction website at http://www.uwlax.edu/MurphyLibrary/Services/Library-instruction/. Requests can also be emailed to libinstruct@uwlax.edu. Direct questions or special requests to Katie Fox, Instruction Librarian, at kfox@uwlax.edu.

Submit Course Reserves Requests

Faculty and staff are encouraged to make course reserves requests as soon as possible. Allow one week for course reserves processing. The course reserves request form can be found at the library home page in the left-side navigation menu under Services>Borrowing. A direct link to the form is: http://www.uwlax.edu/MurphyLibrary/Services/Borrowing/Course-reserves/ Thanks1 Kudos to UWL’s IT Department for successfully launching the VoIP project in about one month. A total of 1625 phones were deployed. A project of this scale typically takes one year to complete. Among the many staff who dedicated their time and talent, a very special thank you goes to Lea Butterfield, UWL’s telecommunications coordinator, for her dedicated work on the project.
