Resources are available to support to faculty, staff and students after news that police apprehended and arrested a student who carried a weapon into a campus building this morning.

Resources are available to support to faculty, staff and students after news that police apprehended and arrested a student who carried a weapon into a campus building this morning. Whether members of the campus community witnessed the incident or were simply affected by the news, counseling services are available. “What we know about trauma is that it hits us differently and can hit us differently over time,” says Paula Knudson, vice chancellor and dean of students. “We are here to support you.” 1. Student counseling: Students seeking counseling can contact the Counseling & Testing Center: 608.785.8073 or urgent-care walk-ins are available from 2-4 p.m. weekdays. Learn more. 2. Faculty and staff counseling: Faculty and staff can find assistance through the Employee Assistance Program. 3. Get training: Student Life will offer training and respond to any request a department has for training. Take the time to think about how you would react in a situation from a troubling behavior to a more dangerous situation.
