Disposing of e-waste in an environmentally-friendly way

Posted 4:57 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012

This Tuesday, in honor of Earth Day, large bins will be set up at Hoeschler Tower from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to collect e-waste. During the week of April 16-20, UW-L faculty and staff submitted orders online to pick up e-waste, which included: computers, keyboards, peripherals, monitors, printers, CD/DVD players, TVs and more. Watch throughout the day to see how much e-waste the campus has accumulated. All future e-waste will be handled by the Eagle Help Desk. From now on, submit orders online to pick up surplus UW-L electronic technology through the Help Desk website. The e-waste pickup is available for university equipment only. Do not submit online orders for personal equipment. On Tuesday students are welcome to bring surplus electronic waste to the bins. The above link provides a listing of items students can bring. Disposing of e-waste keeps the campus environmentally clean and clutter free. Items are disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner by the locally-owned, certified contractor Dynamic Recycling. The contractor also ensures that hard drives are erased so disposal is secure. For more information, call the Eagle Help Desk at 785.8774 or email helpdesk@uwlax.edu.
