Third Congressional District art competition, exhibition open March 22.
Third Congressional District art exhibition opens March 22
The UW-La Crosse University Art Gallery will hang artwork of high school artists from Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District. Rep. Ron Kind and his wife, Tawni, will host the 22nd annual presentation of the art competition. Each year a call goes out to high schools in the district and work is selected by judges for pieces to be included in the exhibition, as well as awards and notations of merit. The first place entry will be displayed for a year in the U.S. Capitol, along with the works of other student artists from across the country. The second place entry will be displayed in Rep. Kind’s Washington, D.C., office, while the third and four place pieces will be displayed in Kind’s La Crosse and Eau Claire offices. The exhibition opens Thursday, March 22, in the gallery, located on the first floor of the UWL Center for the Arts, 333 N. 16th St. The exhibition runs through Sunday, April 8, and will close with a reception for family, friends and the community with Rep. Kind and his wife at 1 p.m. [caption id="attachment_51415" align="alignleft" width="200"]
