Alumni return for exhibition at University Art Gallery Jan. 27-Feb. 11
The UW-La Crosse Alumni Invitation Exhibition will be Jan. 27-Feb. 11, at the University Art Gallery, at UWL’s Center for the Arts. [caption id="attachment_47822" align="alignright" width="240"] “Shifting on Water” by Kim Van Someren. etching, monotype, silkscreen20”x 16”[/caption] The first exhibition of the spring 2017 season, it will include the work of UWL Department of Art graduates, including some who came to UWL when the Center for the Arts first opened in 1974. An opening reception will from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27, in the gallery. Seventeen alumni were invited to submit work for inclusion in the exhibition, which aims to present a cross section of graduate interests, professional accomplishments and contributions in the field. The exhibition will include photography, metalwork, prints, paintings and ceramics. Artists participating in the exhibition are: Devon Browning, Carissa Brudos, Matt Duckett, Mai Chao Duddeck, Sarah Dudgeon, Paul Finch, Lisa Lenarz, Becky McDonah, Tedd R McDonah, Andrew Meyer, Andrew Musil, Kim Van Someren, Amanda Struver, Ryan Varley, Dale Wedig, Ian Wright and Tim Znidarsich. Alumnus Dale Wedig will present a related artist talk from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in 116 Center for the Arts. This exhibition is supported by the UWL College of Liberal Studies, The Department of Art, the UWL Alumni Association and the UWL Student Association. Gallery hours are noon-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday and noon-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It is also open by appointment and during Toland Theater events.
